Northern Michigan District Assembly ...
In June the Alanson church had the honor of hosting the Northern Michigan District Church of the Nazarene 2010 Assembly. Over 30 churches were represented totaling more than 200 people. The Service of Recognition and Ordination was special indeed.
Ladies Salad Supper...
Debbie Brown, wife of Dr. Wayne Brown, Superintendent of the Northern Michigan District churches, was the keynote speaker for this well attended women's event. Ruth Gregory, our Director of Women's Ministries, sees a need for women to get together to talk about the subjects close to their hearts. Other special events are planned for 2010.
Ecumenical Good Friday Service...
265 persons were in attendance at the April 2 Good Friday Service. Titled 'Good Friday Witnesses', the Easter story was told through the eyes of five eye witnesses to the crucifixion. The service concluded with a solo of Were You There? Ten area churches participated.
WORK & WITNESS TRIP TO ARIZONA
The 13 member Alanson Church of the Nazarene Work & Witness team just returned from their trip to Sun Valley Indian School in Arizona. In 1963 Gertrude Jones founded the school. Her dream was to provide a boarding school for the Native American children that would make a difference in their lives. The opening school was on a 5-acre plot of land that has grown to be 70+ acres and 32 buildings. The dream lives on in the staff who count on the help of volunteer work & witness teams.
